Becoming part of the community in Broome North

September 8, 2016

Foundation Housing has been working with Landcorp in Broome North to support a range of place making activities that are aimed at strengthening connections in within the relatively new community on the Waranyjarri Estate.
Most recently we went along for the ride in the 2016 Broome Challenge, a fun family event that took participants around their town to show them what community resources they can access and have some fun along the way. Stops included Cable Beach, Tanami Park and the Broome Bird Park where participants had to complete various challenges such as sandcastle building.
Foundation Housing has also sponsored a series of life skills and lifestyle courses that are running weekly until 20 October at Broome North Primary School. The workshops are available free, or at small cost, for Foundation Housing tenants.
The courses provide an opportunity for our tenants to meet other people in their community and learn skills to improve their abilities and confidence. Topics covered include ‘Cooking and Shopping’ and ‘Caring for Children’.
Our partnerships with government and community organisations play a huge part in bringing about positive change and improvement to our tenants and the community in which they live.
