Foundation Housing’s Board of Directors has announced that the organisation’s Chief Operating Officer, Chris Smith, will succeed Kathleen Gregory AM as its CEO following her retirement in September.
Chris has worked at Foundation Housing since 2014 across a wide range of areas that include development and acquisition, joint-venture projects, commercial management, external client management services and tenant services. Combined with his 20 plus years of experience in other commercial management and executive roles, Chris will continue the legacy established by Kathleen since Foundation Housing’s inception 12 years ago.
Chris says his focus as CEO will be on ensuring Foundation Housing remains the largest, wholly WA based community housing provider whilst continuing to actively pursue growth opportunities to ensure more community housing is delivered for those in need. Chris will steer a range of Board endorsed strategies to achieve growth – including leveraging opportunities through NHFIC and NDIS – while also advancing customer service and community development strategies to ensure tenants remain at the centre of all the organisation does.
As well as warmly congratulating Chris on his appointment, Foundation Housing’s Board have acknowledged the contribution made by Kathleen to the organisation as its inaugural CEO and note the deep respect she has earned throughout the community housing sector. This influence is well known across Australia, as is her commitment to social justice and championing innovation within the sector.
