It’s important that everyone feels safe in their home. If you ever feel unsafe, please contact your housing coordinator and the appropriate support agencies immediately.
If you are a tenant who is dealing with a family or domestic violence situation you now have new options under the Residential Tenancies Act to managing your tenancy agreement.
Tenants who are affected by family and domestic violence are now able to
- end the tenancy quickly and legally
- remove the perpetrator from the agreement
- change the locks on the house
- improve the house security.
If you are affected by family violence, we encourage you to speak with your housing coordinator who can provide guidance on the necessary steps you may wish to take.
