Yagin’s path to education hasn’t been without challenges, but through resilience she was able to graduate with a Bachelor of Psychology and will be using her scholarship funds to study a Master of Cyber Security at Edith Cowan University. She is passionate about becoming a psychologist one day and helping people overcome their mental health challenges. When asked about her motivations to study and her employment goals, she said:
“My education and employment goals revolve around working as a psychologist and making a positive impact to the lives of others. I hope to use my knowledge and skills to help people who are facing similar struggles as I have in the past, providing them with the support and guidance they need to overcome challenges and improve their mental well-being. I’m also motivated to give back to my family, using my education and future
career to provide them with a better quality of life and support them in their own endeavors.”
Yagin says that the Scholarship Program has played an important role in her studies. As a recipient, she was able to receive a new computer which has provided her with the necessary resources to support her in coursework, research and online lectures. She also says the financial relief from the scholarship has allowed her to focus more on her studies without the burden of worrying about purchasing a computer or other study materials.
Similar relief also comes in knowing she has a stable place to call home while she undertakes her studies. “I appreciate where I live, my home is fulfilling to me. It’s reassuring to have such a helpful organisation like Foundation Housing available, especially during a time when many people are struggling with accommodation and rent. The convenience of my home’s location, being close to everything I need, adds to the overall positive experience of living here,” Yagin says.
“What inspires me to keep pursuing my studies despite the challenges I face is my passion for what I am learning. Knowing that I’m working towards a career that aligns with my interests and skills is a powerful motivator.”
Foundation Housing is committed to building our tenants’ capacity by providing opportunities such as the Scholarship Program, to encourage personal development, access to education and increased well-being. As Yagin continues her academic journey and works towards her career goals, we have no doubt that she will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Her dedication to education, her resilience in the face of adversity, and her commitment to giving back to her community are qualities that make her a truly deserving recipient of the Foundation Housing Scholarship.
