In light of NAIDOC Week, Foundation Housing announced the launch of their new staff polo shirt.

Beautifully designed, the shirt incorporates artwork by Yamatji and Wajarri Noongar/Yuet woman, Anthea Corbett. As a tenant of Foundation Housing, Anthea developed the artwork titled ‘Derbal Yerrigan’ for a Tenant Artwork Engagement Project. Foundation Housing was honoured to purchase the artwork and display it in their office and across their Reconciliation Action Plan design.

‘Derbarl Yerrigan’ is the Whadjuk Noongar name for the Swan River. To the Noongar traditional owners and custodians, Western Australia’s Swan River has remained at the heart of culture and heritage for more than 40,000 years.

“The river water cannot go back, always flowing towards the ocean. As a ripple effect giving off the tides of life, we too have the capacity to be a part of something greater than ourselves. When we use the resources we have, then something beautiful will come from the work we do,” says Anthea.

Foundation Housing is honoured and proud to incorporate the culture and artwork of Australia’s First Nations people into their new uniform and they thank Anthea for her contribution.
