Over 70 people gathered to see Housing Minister Colin Holt officially open Foundation Housing’s new housing development on Bennett St earlier this week and tour the purpose built complex which offers vulnerable single people independent, thoughtfully designed accommodation in the inner city.
Guests gathered in the bright and open ground floor communal space that will be activated as an area for communal activities. A highlight was a stop on the 6th floor tenants’ garden terrace which enjoys spectacular 180 views over East Perth.
Joining the celebrations were several of the new tenants of Bennett St who expressed how happy they were to be making their home in the units whose design incorporates a range of features to make them great places to live, such natural cross ventilation, passive solar heating, abundant built in storage and attractive durable finishes.
Also at the opening was Lord Mayor of Perth Lisa Scaffidi, Housing Authority Director General Paul Whyte, Foundation Housing Director Mike Gurry and Anglicare WA CEO Ian Carter.
