Many hands make light work, the saying goes, and it is true of recent successes at 100 Hampton Road, Fremantle.
The Foundation Housing-managed building, home to almost 200 tenants, was the focus of an online crowd-funding campaign launched by socially-driven creative organisation FORM. Their target was to raise $20,000 for commercial kitchen equipment at the premises – a goal exceeded within a week. Prominent media attention assisted the campaign, on the heels of a site visit by WA Housing Minister Colin Holt in July.
Foundation Housing’s Impact and Innovation Specialist Tom Tolchard said the achievement epitomised the possible synergies achieved by like-minded organisations. “Working in partnership with a creative arts organisation such as FORM allows for an incredible narrative to be built around the work at Hampton Road and importantly the ability to connect that narrative to a community of supporters who are passionate about using the arts to make positive social difference,” he said.
“By leveraging our collective resources, we are able to punch well above our weight. Great things are happening.”
