Bidets and Toilet Hoses

Health Warning and Hazard Protection

Hygiene spray hoses for toilets or bidets are classed as high-hazard plumbing equipment due to the risk of toilet water mixing with drinking water if they are not installed according to specific Australian plumbing
standards.

Bidet douche seats, including those built into toilet pans, are regulated by The Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) 2022. According to this code, if the outlet is not positioned at least 25 mm above the overflow level of the pan, high hazard protection is necessary.

Installation

By law, only a licensed plumber is allowed to install a hygiene spray hose for toilets or bidets, which must have an appropriate backflow prevention device to eliminate the risk of contamination of the drinking water supply.

If you fail to get permission from Foundation Housing and/or install the device without a licensed plumber, we will ask you to remove it.
