Celebrating Community and Creativity at the Annual Foundation Housing Makers Market

December 2, 2025

The Foundation Housing Annual Makers Market was a truly wonderful celebration of connection, creativity, and support within our community. From start to finish, the event was filled with laughter, smiles, beautiful creations, and a real sense of togetherness.

Held at the vibrant Perth City Farm, the space was perfect for bringing tenants, staff, and the wider community together. Visitors were treated to a feast for the senses: stunning handmade gifts and crafts, delicious food, the gentle rhythm of drumbeats in the background, and even festive carols that added to the joyful atmosphere.

But the heart of the Makers Market was the people. Our tenants not only showcased their incredible skills and artistic talents, they also created an environment where connection and community could flourish. The event was a chance to catch up with familiar faces, make new friends, and celebrate the achievements of everyone involved.

We are so grateful to tenants who shared their reflections on the day:

Great food and the drumbeats were perfect—not overpowering, just a lovely background. I loved my haircut too and catching up with Neil. All staff and volunteers were super friendly and helpful. I spoke to a few people from Bennett St and elsewhere. It was easy to meet and talk to people. It was a great sense of community and great for my mental health to get out and interact with friendly people.” Nicola, FHL Tenant and TRC Chair Person

What I noticed is there’s lots of care, fellowship and kindness that’s truly genuine and I find this invaluable. It might sound lame, but it truly reminded me of what I feel it would be like “in a way” when God’s Kingdom come. Thank you for being truly kind and caring!! It means beyond words could express. We are very grateful. Thank you.” – FHL Tenant

The Makers Market was more than an event—it was a platform for our tenants to showcase their creativity, share their stories, and connect with the broader community. Whether browsing stalls, chatting with neighbours, or enjoying the music and carols, everyone felt included and celebrated. We were also very lucky to have a talented tenant, capture moments from the special day, with his brilliant photography skills!

We also want to acknowledge the incredible effort of our staff and volunteers, who helped create a welcoming, supportive, and vibrant atmosphere. Their dedication ensured that the day ran smoothly and everyone could enjoy themselves safely and comfortably.

Events like the Makers Market remind us of the power of community. They provide opportunities to build relationships, celebrate individual talents, and strengthen connections between tenants and staff. Most importantly, they offer a space for joy, pride, and creativity to flourish.

We’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to bring our community together, celebrate our tenants, and continue building the strong, connected, and supportive communities we all value so deeply.
