In our commitment to supporting tenants, we have developed a ‘Climate Comfort Fund’ of $50,000 that will go towards home improvements specifically addressing the rising temperatures of climate change.
Developed as a result to direct feedback from the Committee of Residents and Tenants (CORT), this fund will be marketed as a Pilot Program with funding allocated until the end of the 24/25 Financial Year. Tenants and residents will be provided with the opportunity to apply for a tenant improvement request under the Pilot Program that will help them live more comfortably in their home. Examples of what might be considered:
Tenants and residents living in a home owned by Foundation Housing will be able to apply for both structural and non-structural improvements. All other tenants will be able to apply for non-structural improvements such as portable air-conditioning and pedestal fans.
There is no guarantee that all complying applications will be funded due to the nature of the pilot program.
For questions and more information, please contact your Housing or Lodging Coordinator or the Repairs Team:
Yes, you need to provide a quote that covers any materials and the installation costs from a licensed contractor (if applicable).
If your funding application is approved, then FHL will send a work order to the contractor and the works will be coordinated between yourself and the contractor completing the installation.
All applications will be assessed. Your application may be accepted in full, in part or may not be successful with receiving funding.
FHL will pay for the installation costs as per your funding application and quote provided. Tenants will be responsible for ongoing maintenance costs.
No, there will be no changes to your rent.
We will begin reviewing applications at the start of February, but applications do not have a closing date.
