Commitment to the Pilbara in focus

December 6, 2016

Housing Minister, Hon Brendan Grylls MLC, visited a Foundation Housing property in South Hedland in early December where he took the opportunity to meet with CEO Kathleen Gregory and General Manager of Business Development Chris Smith at a property managed by the organisation.

Foundation Housing has managed a portfolio of Service Worker homes in the town for the past four years.  With the initial lease from the Housing Authority concluding, Foundation Housing will continue to manage a number of these properties under a new agreement reached with the WA Government.

Under the new agreement, the homes will be made available at affordable rents to local workers and those in need of subsidised housing. As well as the Housing Authority properties, Foundation Housing has homes under management for not-for-profit organisations such as the YMCA and IBN Aboriginal Corporation.

“We’re delighted the Minister has signalled the Housing Authority’s intent to continue to partner with us to provide affordable housing to those in need in the Pilbara, in the long term. As the only community housing organisation operating in the Pilbara, we were keen to maintain a local office to and this contract enables up to do that,” Ms Gregory said.
