Foundation Housing Ltd has welcomed the commencement of construction on a 213-apartment development delivering 65 social homes and 148 affordable rental homes within the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct.
Foundation Housing is also pleased to announce the name of the development: Rise@Murdoch: Where Community and Opportunity Rise – a name that reflects the vision for a vibrant, connected community in one of Perth’s fastest growing innovation precincts.
The project represents a major community housing–led development, with Foundation Housing leading the project and bringing together key partners across the development and construction industry. The project is being delivered in partnership with Human Urban, alongside leading industry partners including ABN Group, PACT Construction and Plenary Group.
The development has also been supported by funding from the Government of Western Australia and the Australian Government through the Housing Australia Future Fund, helping enable the delivery of new social and affordable homes in Perth’s southern corridor.
Located close to Fiona Stanley Hospital, Murdoch University and public transport, the development will provide well-located homes for people who want to live close to employment, education and essential services.
Foundation Housing CEO Chris Smith said the project demonstrates the power of partnerships in delivering large-scale housing solutions.
“This project will deliver 213 new homes in a well-connected location and make a meaningful contribution to increasing housing supply in Perth’s southern corridor,” Mr Smith said.
“Developments of this scale and complexity rely on strong partnerships across the construction and development industry. We’re proud to be working alongside organisations including ABN Group, PACT Construction, Plenary Group and Human Urban, whose expertise and collaboration are critical to bringing projects like this to life.
“By bringing together government, the community housing sector and industry leaders, we are able to deliver high-quality social and affordable homes close to major employment and education centres.”
Foundation Housing Board Chair Paul Lakey said the development reflects the organisation’s commitment to collaborative solutions that address housing need.
“Projects like this highlight the importance of strong partnerships in tackling the housing challenges facing our community,” Mr Lakey said.
“With the support of both the State and Federal Governments, and the expertise of our private sector partners, we are delivering high-quality homes that will support individuals, families and workers who want to live close to jobs, education and essential services.”
The development forms part of the broader transformation of the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct, a landmark urban renewal initiative creating a hub for health, education, research and innovation in Perth’s southern suburbs.
