Foundation Housing Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of Gail McGowan as a Non-executive Director effective from 23 November 2021.
Gail McGowan is an experienced senior executive and Board Director. She has more than 30 years experience in government and until mid 2021, was the Director General of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage. She has also held senior positions at the former Department of State Development, and Worksafe. In addition, she worked as a policy advisor and chief of staff to State and Federal Government Ministers for a number of years covering a diverse range of portfolio areas.
Gail is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, founding member of CEOs for Gender Equity and a member of Chief Executive Women of Australia. She currently Chairs the Murdoch University School of Business Advisory Board, is Deputy Chair of Leadership WA and a Director on the Mid West Ports Authority. Gail was awarded a Public Service Medal in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday honours for her outstanding public service to Western Australia. She also received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Murdoch University in 2019 to recognise her career achievements and demonstrated leadership qualities.
“I feel incredibly honoured to join the board of Foundation Housing. I have a strong sense of social justice and a passion for creating great communities. So far I’ve been lucky enough to visit a number of our facilities and meet some of the staff and residents. I hope that my knowledge and experience in government as well as a genuine interest in values driven leadership will be able to be put to good use as a Board member and I am really looking forward to getting more involved,” says Gail.
