Among the many programs dedicated to alleviating homelessness, Wellness Central and Grow&Grind, both part of the 55 Central initiatives, stand out for their impact on the local community. These programs not only provide essential services but also foster a sense of belonging and connection among those they serve.
During this year’s National Homelessness Week, both organisations brought warmth and joy to Bennett Street Lodge. More than 20 residents were welcomed with smiles, coffee, donuts, and a BBQ. The event was more than just a gathering—it was a celebration of community and connection. Residents engaged in fun games of Jenga, enjoying the simple yet profound pleasure of spending time with others.
This event was a powerful reminder that having a safe home, sharing a coffee, and engaging in warm conversations are essential elements for our well-being. The social connection fostered during this gathering left many residents feeling energised and grateful. The generosity and service of our friends from Wellness Central and Grow&Grind made a meaningful difference in the lives of those who attended.
National Homelessness Week underscores the importance of collective efforts to ensure everyone has access to safe housing. Through the dedication of programs like Wellness Central and Grow&Grind, we move one step closer to a future where homelessness is a thing of the past.
