Foundation Housing has a dedicated Sustaining Tenancies Team that work closely with the Housing and Lodging Coordinators to provide support to tenants and residents who are experiencing difficulties. Issues may include rent arrears, property care, having trouble with neighbours, or experiencing personal issues and not coping due to mental health issues, domestic violence, financial problems, etc.
Sustaining Tenancies is made up of two teams:
Once a referral has been received from a Housing or Lodging Coordinator, a meeting with the tenant or resident is made. Support staff work with them to identify issues and develop action plans. Support often takes the form of referring and linking people to a whole range of external agencies such as financial counselling, drug and alcohol support, mental health support, domestic violence protection, parenting help, education and training opportunities and general wellbeing programmes.
Our partnerships with reputable external agencies is key to the success of this work. Working together leads to better outcomes for those referred to the service.
The Sustaining Tenancies staff are committed to supporting people to stay in their homes and avoid the disruption and distress caused by losing a tenancy or residency.
