Today marked the first AGM of the FHL Committee of Residents and Tenants (CORT).
The Committee of Residents and Tenants is a new forum that allows residents and tenants to provide feedback regarding improving the way Foundation Housing services are delivered to create safe, secure, sustainable, and affordable housing.
Foundation Housing tenants and residents were encouraged to get involved in the CORT, including those in regional areas such as Broome and Port Hedland.
CEO Chris Smith joined the newly appointed committee at the FHL Leederville HQ to announce and congratulate the members.
“I am so pleased to have a full room before me today. It is extremely important to have people like yourselves who are living in our properties, having a say in what we do. We look forward to the committee having a voice in the decisions that impact them,” says Chris.
Newly appointed CORT Chairperson Claire is looking forward to her journey on the committee and the way that tenant and resident voices can have an impact on people like herself. “I really believe that the CORT has the ability to allow Foundation Housing to set a benchmark to others in the social housing sector. I am looking forward to working with other tenants and Foundation Housing staff on what I know will be a really great journey.”

Following the AGM, the committee held their first agenda-setting meeting where members expressed their broader issues and concerns that they wanted to include in the agenda of the first official CORT Meeting in December.
“It was a really productive day. All the committee members are passionate and excited for the journey ahead and I am looking forward to seeing the impact of the CORT on our organisation,” says Community Engagement Officer Neal.
